Card Holder
Overview
What is a CardHolder?
Owners of Battlelore 1st edition (or Memoir ’44) probably know the plastic card holders where you can place your command and lore cards. Really nice idea. Of course, you can use these for 2nd edition as well, if you happen to have them. Alternatively, you can print your own without using a 3d-printer, but simply on cardstock. Oh, and you’ll need some glue and scissors. Let me introduce you:
The design of these cardboard CardHolders is inspired by my own CardHolders for Armada and X-Wing (surprise), and is simply adapted to fit the needs of Battlelore.
The large middle area serves as a placement area for unit markers, victory points, lore markers, dice or potato chips, and surprisingly my own FactionSheets fit exactly in there (you can put them in the back slot, as well).
The CardHolder in action. Command and lore cards are properly divided, the scenario card can be stored in the middle slot, if desired. There’s no space for unit cards, simply because that’s what my FactionSheets are for. I know there are too many slots for both card types, but this way you can temporarily store additional cards till the end of the round or group them, if you like.
You can flip through the cards in the side trays. If you dislike the cards covering each other, that’s not a big problem since you can flip through them with ease (works like a charm). And after all holding them in the hand means hiding some info, too.
If you happen to dislike the lore and victory point markers (like me), my VipolotTracker fits in there, as well. Attention: The currently available VipolotTracker does NOT fit inside the slot, it’s a resized version made upon special request. As soon as I have some time available, I will change that, the smaller version works well enough.
Building instructions
Assembly is a bit more demanding, but doable. If you already built card holders for Armada or X-Wing you shouldn’t have any problems. If not I suggest to take a look at the building instructions for the Armada CardHolder below, it’s pretty much the same (the side holders are almost identical, the middle section is slightly different but almost self explaining). If you can’t figure it out let me know!
Have fun and as always, feedback welcome!
